FAQ: About Cactus Corral & Shipping Policy

What is Cactus Corral?

Cactus Corral is a unique sanctuary where we grow, propagate, and offer ornamental prickly cacti. Located on a large property in sunny Sylmar, California, our grounds are filled with artistic horseshoe ironwork, horses, and stunning cactus landscapes. We invite you to visit and experience the beauty of Cactus Corral by contacting us to set up a time and date.

How did you become the Keepers of Cactus Corral?

Our family acquired the property in 2018 and immediately recognized its potential and raw beauty. Despite being unattended for over a decade, the cacti thrived amidst overgrown weeds and trash. With your support, we are working diligently to restore and preserve this unique space.

How long have these plants been here?

Ambrose Meyers, the creator of Cactus Corral, started his cactus collection in the early 1950s. His ironwork was his passion, and many of his horseshoe art sculptures and over 500 giant cacti remain on the property today. Some of his creations have been featured at Disneyland and in the TV show Criminal Minds.

Where do you ship to?

We offer FREE shipping for all orders within the United States. Transit times will vary depending on your location.

How long does it take for an order to arrive once shipped?

Orders are processed and shipped from our base in Sylmar, CA as quickly as possible. Handling and processing typically take 4-6 business days, while delivery times range from 5-12 business days. Factors such as distance, customs, and natural disasters can cause postal delays. Tracking information and carrier details are provided for every order. For additional assistance, please contact Saul@thecactuscorral.com.

Will I receive a tracking number for my package?

Yes, we provide tracking numbers as soon as your order ships. Please be patient if there are additional delays beyond our control, such as postal delays or customs inspections. We appreciate your understanding.

Will my purchase be identical to the photograph? What if my cut is damaged? How does your refund policy work?

The cactus pictured is the one you will receive. We update photos to reflect changes in the cactus piece itself. While we only sell healthy pieces, there may be minor blemishes, marks, or imperfections. We don't issue refunds for temperature-related damages from shipping but do our best to minimize them. Be mindful of your local weather and its potential impact on your new cactus.

What do I do once I get my cut/cactus?

For a new rooted cactus, separate it from any soil, wash it down, and let it dry for about a week in the shade. Once cleared, introduce it to fresh soil and the rest of your cacti. For a rootless cutting, let the wound callus under full shade for 2-3 weeks (longer for larger cacti). Bury it 1-2 inches in a loose, dry soil/perlite mix (30/70) and keep it in full shade. Don't water until decent roots sprout to avoid root rot and humidity damage. Gradually introduce the cactus to sunlight to avoid burning.

Aren't cacti also illegal?

Our cacti are sold as ornamental and collection plants only. While it is legal to grow and sell them as such, extracting mescaline is illegal and punishable by jail time and fines.
